My least favorite holiday

Apparently if you hit a rose petal with a specific application of force, you can bust a heart through it; I think Peter got this one on the first try. Oh the things we learn at pint night. Happy Valentine's Day

Mural hunting in East Austin

Mural hunting is one of my grandmother's favorite things to do.  When I was little, she and I spent our weekends roaming Houston in search of public art (It seems that interest in the visual arts is genetic).  Now that she has moved to Austin, we can pick up where we left off...

Bydee Man

An artist I met while roaming East Austin with my grandmother...amazingly happy fellow with a style to match.

Dog and Duck

Poor Jordan, they were giving him such a hard time

Some random drunk girl opened the door and caught us taking pics of the quotes in the bathroom; then Ranjana comes in with another camera, closes the door in drunk girl's face, and starts shooting too.   I feel kinda bad, she did need the bathroom more than we did...

A Grand New Year

Champagne. Sparklers. Random displays of affection. No hospital visits.  I'd say New Year's was quite successful.  Thanks to Bug, Jerry, and all at the Grand for a smashing good time.

Wine Glass Jam Sesh

Thanksgiving dinner with the Shelby's concluded with everyone randomly playing their wine glass. My family is crazy...or we're weird...or maybe we were just trying to prove the glasses were made of real crystal. I don't know how it started, but this is how it ended.

Diwali Festival 2007

My Karma feels better already...

Diya on the tower steps. I was so caught up shooting them that I didn't realize one had set me (well, my shoe lace) on fire. Zen-like states can be dangerous

Praying with water

Diwali is the Hindu festival of light overcoming darkness. Diya (candles), food, flowers, and chanting were everywhere, and this was the first time I ever had to take my shoes off at the UT tower. Good times had by all.

Almost Done...

I have one more shot to get before I can put this project to rest. Finally. The final project is in color, but some of the shots look nice in black in white as well. Am I indecisive...I can't decide.

Warning: Field Trips May Be Hazardous To Your Health!

These are some shots from a field trip to the pumpkin patch. After a lot of smiles, a few bruises, and one near concussion, we made it back to school. Let's just say it's rather humbling to know you can get your butt kicked by four year olds.

"Hey Miss Megan, I found my pumpkin!" Five seconds later, a plastic spider scared him and he dropped said pumpkin directly on my temple. I literally saw stars for 30 seconds.

"Hey, let's push Miss Megan off the hay bale!"
Result: Bruised tail bone and slight loss of dignity.

This is not from the field trip, but from a nature walk. They were finding things that represent fall, so basically leaves and acorns.
